INGREDIENT PHILOSOPHY
What we choose. Why we choose it. How consciously we formulate.

Our Belief About Ingredients
At Araah, ingredients are not chosen for trend value or marketing appeal.
They are chosen for purpose.
Natural skincare is effective only when the ingredient:
- Serves a specific skin concern
- Respects skin type
- Aligns with the nature of the formulation
- Has a traditional or functional relevance
Every ingredient must answer one question before it enters a formulation:
Why does this ingredient belong here?
If there is no clear reason, it does not enter the product.
Rooted in Traditional Wisdom, Applied with Clarity

Our ingredient philosophy draws from:
- Siddha and traditional skin-care knowledge
- Long-standing botanical usage records
- Practical observation of how skin behaves over time
We do not blindly follow tradition, nor do we dismiss it.
We study, understand, and apply it where it truly benefits the skin.
Purpose-Driven Botanical Selection

We select botanicals based on what the skin needs, not what sounds impressive.
Some of the key botanicals we work with include:
Avarampoo
Traditionally associated with skin clarity and tone balance.
Chosen specifically for concerns like pigmentation, uneven tone, and dull skin.
Licorice (Yashtimadhu)
Selected for melanin-related concerns.
Supports brightening gently, without aggressive action.
Damascus Rose
Used for its calming, balancing, and skin-conditioning nature.
Chosen where sensitivity, dryness, or barrier comfort is required.
Moringa
A nutrient-dense botanical used across face, hair, and acne-prone formulations.
Selected for strengthening, purifying, and long-term skin support.
Basil & Mint
Used specifically for acne-prone and oily skin types.
Chosen for their clarifying, refreshing, and balancing properties.
Lotus
Selected for its soothing and skin-comforting nature, especially for sensitive or stressed skin.
Each ingredient is used where it makes sense, not everywhere.

Ingredient Selection by Skin Concern & Skin Type
We do not believe one ingredient works for all skin types.
Instead, ingredients are selected based on:
- Skin concern (acne, pigmentation, sensitivity, dryness)
- Skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive)
- Product format (oil, powder, gel, cream)
Examples:
- Avarampoo for pigmentation-focused formulations
- Basil & mint for acne-prone skin
- Licorice for melanin-related concerns
- Moringa for strengthening and skin resilience
This ensures formulations remain focused, not overloaded.
Highest Percentage of Natural Ingredients
Natural is not a claim. It is a discipline.
Araah products are formulated to achieve the highest possible percentage of natural ingredients, appropriate to the product type.
Wherever possible:
- We design anhydrous (water-free) formulations
- These products remain naturally stable
- No preservatives are required by nature
This is why products like our lip balms and eye creams are completely water-free and self-preserving.
However, we do not force “natural” where it compromises safety or performance.
In certain formulations — especially water-based ones — additional protection becomes necessary.
These decisions are made responsibly and communicated honestly.
There is no exaggeration.
There is only truthful formulation.
Ingredient Honesty Over Ingredient Hype
We do not believe in:
- Overloading formulas
- Decorative ingredient lists
- Trend-driven additions
We believe in:
- Minimal yet effective combinations
- Ingredients that work together
- Clear reasoning behind every choice
An ingredient is valuable not because it is rare —
but because it is relevant.
Transparency as a Principle
Ingredient transparency, for us, means:
- Explaining why an ingredient is used
- Matching the ingredient to the concern
- Avoiding misleading claims
- Educating rather than emotionally convincing
For every product, we clearly communicate:
- How much of the formulation is natural
- How much consists of safe, functional ingredients
- Why those functional ingredients are used
This transparency allows customers to make informed decisions, instead of relying on vague claims.
Example:
In a formulation like our Sinamika Face Wash Powder,
- 88% of the formulation consists of natural ingredients
- 12% consists of functional ingredients such as gentle cleansers and safety preservatives
These functional ingredients are:
- Used only where necessary
- Globally approved for cosmetic safety
- Present in minimal, controlled quantities
This level of clarity ensures that customers know exactly what they are using — and why.
We do not believe in labels that say “100% natural” when safety or functionality requires otherwise.
We believe in stating the truth, in percentages, without fear or exaggeration.
Ingredient philosophy is not about listing names.
It is about explaining choices.
What Are Functional Ingredients?
While our formulations prioritise the highest possible percentage of natural ingredients, not every product format can rely on botanicals alone.
Certain formulations — especially those that contain water or require gentle cleansing — need functional(chemical) ingredients to remain safe, stable, and suitable for regular use.
These ingredients are:
- Used only when unavoidable
- Selected based on global safety approvals
- Applied in minimal, controlled quantities
- Declared with clear percentage transparency
They are not added to extend shelf life unnecessarily or to replace proper formulation discipline.
They exist purely to protect the user and the product.
In the next section, we explain:
- What functional ingredients are
- Why they are used
- Where they are used
- How their safety is evaluated globally
